Ben Izzard is a Canberra-based freelance director of photography and cinematographer with extensive experience across documentary, commercial, and corporate storytelling. He is available for hire and brings a refined visual style and a deep understanding of narrative to every production.
Ben has worked on a broad range of high-end productions with leading organisations and agencies including the NBA, ESPN, Kayo, Rugby World Cup and the Australian Ice Hockey League. Most recently, he produced and shot the 15-part documentary series in partnership with NBA Asia, profiling ten emerging basketball talents from China, Australia, the Philippines, Japan, and Singapore. The series, which leads into the Rising Stars Invitational, has amassed over 3 million views on YouTube and has been shared widely across NBA platforms throughout Asia-Pacific.
His credits also include feature-length documentaries such as Foundations, spotlighting NBA Champion Luc Longley, and a film on NBA star Jamal Murray, both available to watch on the NBA App. Ben has also worked on productions with major broadcasters including Channel 7 Spotlight, Sky News, SBS/NITV, and ABC, including on documentaries such as ‘Saving Australia’s Amazon’ and ‘The Lake’.
His work has taken him across every major city in Australia and internationally to the USA, Japan, New Zealand and Singapore —covering events such as the 2023, 2024 and 2025 NBA All-Star Weekends in Salt Lake City, Indianapolis and San Francisco, and the 2023 FIBA World Cup in Okinawa, Japan.
Ben operates the latest Sony FX cinema camera systems and DJI drone systems, and is a full member of the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS).
